Bar Rouge in Shanghai
Probably the coolest place in town and made for a party. The Pudong backdrop is spectacular! Get there before 21h00 to see the lights in all their glory but usually kicks off at around 11h30. Bar Rouge is found on the Bund on top of an old colonial building with a large out door deck - perfect when the weather is on your side. Usually open all week with cover charge on Friday and Saturday. Should not be missed!

UCD legend Neil Sands loses his shades and puts on a tie to give us his personal perspectives on Brazilian culture, the similarities to Ireland, and more. What a boy!

Hang gliding in Rio
EPIC! Can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning in Rio! Thanks to Terry for providing the inspiration! Keith was definitely our MVP of the day with nerves of steel! Awesome experience and would strongly recommend to anyone. Gliders were extremely professional and very experienced and the whole exercise took less than an hour! Not expensive either! If you have the time and if you are looking to do something a little bit different - can't go wrong here!
Drum practice at Afro Reggae
How it should be done vs not quite there yet! Not a bad effort though - you had to be there!!

Afro Reggae - Vigario Legal, Rio de Janeiro
Visit to Afro Reggae in Rio de Janeiro on Friday 12 March 2010 - INSPIRATIONAL!
Deep in the heart of one of Rio's most feared favelas, Afro Reggae's story stands out as an inspirational lesson to anyone passionate about life. Many of the children in this area have no ambition or hope and will invariably end up in the drug trade. But through music training and a combination of creative teaching and life skills development, this organisation has made a massive impact - worth the danger - definitely worth the visit!

After a warm reception, the group were treated to various local 'drumming' acts - sensational vibe! Following a very informal, hot, but extremely tasty lunch we had the chance to actually experiment with some of the music kit! After examining the video evidence a little later I would suggest some of our team to be tone deaf but on the whole an excellent effort! Great afternoon for all!

Natura Cosmetics - Sao Paulo, Brazil, March 2010
A Cosmetics company aiming to make a real social difference!
Natura is now one of Brazil's leading companies and certainly a market leader in the huge local cosmetics industry. The organisation has now internationalised and can be found just about anywhere in the world. You will hear more and more about them as you travel through the country - along with Petrobras they tend to sponsor or be linked to most worthwhile initiatives or events.

Our meeting involved a tour of the facility (like something from a Bond movie) followed by a very lively presentation by our host Jemina. Really interesting business model and strong social responsibility approach. A very worthwhile learning experience even if it is a little far outside the city.

Introduction to Brazil at FIA Business School
Had the great pleasure of meeting Professor Alfredo Behrens of FIA Business School - what a great host! Perfect way to kick start the week in Brazil and lay the foundations for the meetings ahead. FIA are one of the top business schools in Brazil and based in Sao Paulo. Very entertaining introduction to Brazilian culture and the Brazilian way - loving it!
